Is it OK to be different in a town called “normal”?

Coat Tale Productions collaborated with Disney to produce the pilot for Misfits, a children’s show filled with magical realism and fantasy elements centered on an idea almost every kid can relate to. What does it mean to be normal?

Misfits is a whimsical & mysterious romp about a town in Oregon called, “Normal” where the standard quo is encouraged and oddities are discouraged. Even hidden away.

Misfits is a wholly original idea from the Coat Tale Productions team and owned entirely by our production company. Although we developed this idea with and for Disney, we were able to retain the rights moving forward. We see this series as a fun family show that empowers those of us who grow up feeling a little different than what society tells us we should be. We use fantasy and magical realism to tell a story that, at it’s core, is about a universal feeling many of us share. Contact us

But Normal, Oregon has a secret it can’t hold back. Just outside of town, living in the lush forests of the Pacific Northwest is a community of misfits who aren’t at all normal. The townsfolk whisper about the “misfits” living in the woods but few are brave enough to venture into the forest to find the truth for themselves. But one day, curiosity gets the best of a young man living in Normal and he discovers a community of fascinating people that sets off a chain of events, forever changing the lives in both communities.
